| I take this to very literally be talking about someone with depression and loneliness who attempted suicide but lived. The singers are happy that they lived and are embracing the individual ("welcome back"). I find it very hopeful of the future and encouraging to move beyond the past. | |

This is one of my favorite songs. It is an anthem of encouragement for a wallflower type individual. The narrator is coaxing them to step out of their comfort zone and do what they love to do. It is advising the individual to be the person that they want to be doing, perhaps, what they admire in others, thus "be the one." "Leave with the lights up" seems to be imagery with a concert how it isn't until the very end that all the lights of a venue come one. It is saying stay till the end; don't leave early; participate in living. I really see it as advice for someone struggling in life. They are saying get out and live, do what you feel like doing, and participate in all you dream about. |
