Must say, I live in NY and I know owe my current love life to the GLA. This song speaks the story of my past relationship. I was dating her and well didnt work to well, a few weeks ago I decided i still liked her, now I went up to her the other night nd I asked her to date me again and i sang the song (how corny) Well the point of this rant was... This song speaks the truth Ok break down time: "The cool is dead, baby Go on and sleep Rest your weary head and love a better me And in the morning We'll start over again That's how they do it up on the screen" Our relationship died, now go an rest on it and tomorow Ill be a better man, and I hope you wil love me to, just like in the movies. "So me and my baby We would dance all night But I don't know the steps In my baby's time To do it like they do it For the girls uptown I heard they light them up like the blues" Being a teenager in new york we party alot, and well i cant dance. Also she lives uptown i live down so we always chill on her party scene "Was I good to you, the wife of my youth Not another soul could love you Like my rotten bones do So I will wait on the edges in between These New York streets Where you and I would meet" He is saying, was i good to you when we dated? and I love you more than anyone could. They live in Ny and that is where they hang "But I'm a cannonball to a house on fire And you're slow like Motown soul" I am very hectic and chaotic, meanwhile she is calm and collected " |

I mean, Yea you could say it's about a zombie invasion. But i feel its more about a guy and his Girlfriend and his friends, "In secret lamplight hideouts. We swore the world couldn't break us," and how in their youth they took "pledges" of friendship. But either they left him, or he let them slip away and now he is alone "I look to my left, And I look to my right. I'm calling out for my brothers, But it's so dark in this night. Am I alone? Did they fall down by the wayside? Was I moving too blind to see them? Were they calling out to me?" He remembers life when they were younger and how happy they were "Were the things that we wanted when we were still sixteen," He recalls how he may have done things that hurt them, but he never would have left him, or turn a deaf ear on them. And even though his friends may have hung their hearts on "gallows" he wouldnt "I've done some things that I'm not too proud of. I've never left you, A deaf ear for longing. Some hearts are gallows, I'm not here for hangin' around." Twords the end he realizes his friends did leave, he preaches to them ingoring the fact that they couldnt hear him, he also just trys to comfort himself "It's alright, man, I'm only bleeding, man. Stay hungry, stay free, And do the best you can." |

| Kindof, hah no offense i was keeding. But yea, the gaslight make a lot of referance to little eden, this is a term used by bruce sprinsteen in his earlier songs when speaking of asbury park, a region in new jearsy where both the Gaslight and Springsteen both first made it big. | |
| The Gaslight Anthem – The '59 Sound Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| The song i blieve is yes about death but also about the future of music, they are refering to some death most likely one of a friend and while in the hospital the songs protagonist ponders death and what life will be like when he dies or music, the protagonist wishes that when he dies and is buried he will hear that "'59" sound one last time | |

| The Boys of Little Eden runs deeper than that, both Springsteen (who was one of Fallon largest influences) and Fallon himself were from new jearsy. Asbury park is more specificly where Springsteen is from, it is where he music originated (see live from asberry park) Fallon also got his start here. Springsteen referd to asbury as Eden (a bibilica referance) Boys of little eden would refer yes as a nod to bruce but also to those who were raised around asbury park | |
