| Julia Jacklin – Turn Me Down Lyrics | 4 years ago |
|
I'm not an expert, but this song is so good its a shame no one is talking about it so I'll start. She's just rather timidly driving along at 40mph. She's not too sure of herself, her driving or her friend and she's "crashed" before, probably in cars and relationships so she meekly begs him to turn her down. She doesn't want to go through the pain of thinking she's in a loving relationship only to find out its something else. Her begging tone changes to accusational as she repeatedly insists that he turn her down. She's accusing him of being too cowardly to have a real relationship so just turn her down already. She's angry and mocking as she continues. Is she demanding he turn her down or daring him? She's in control of the car. Is she nuts? When she says, "are you nervous?" in the beginning at first I thought she was asking him. Is she asking herself because then she says she's crashed before. She does this weird grammar thing again a little further along when the song says, "I see a bright future I'm just not sure that you're in it" She's not sure she's in the bright future or she's not sure he's not in it? Or does she want us to be confused? I think she either sucks at grammar or she wants us to think that both these people are thinking the same thing. They both see a bright future, but the other person in the car isn't in it. Is that him saying, "Don't look at me Look at the centre line Maybe I'll see you In the supermarket sometime" If that's him speaking, he's really cold. I guess its over, but boy that was unnecessarily brutal. If she's talking to herself, then dude, I guess its over. |

| George Jones – He Stopped Loving Her Today Lyrics | 6 years ago |
| I always thought that she had died first long ago. When they say she came came to see him one last time I thought it meant that "he had gone crazy" and had a visit from her. In other words, she visited in a hallucination or a vivid dream. He either killed himself or died of natural causes. People who are terminal often do think they get visited by long lost loved ones so its possible he had the euphoric experience of being reunited and even escorted into the next life with his long lost wife before passing away. The only thing is, how would the narrator know this happened since it doesn't sound like anyone was there. | |
| Simon and Garfunkel – El Cóndor Pasa (If I Could) Lyrics | 8 years ago |
| I'd rather be a leopard than that guy who got attacked by a leopard in that liveleak video I saw the other day. | |
| Vic Chesnutt – You Are Never Alone Lyrics | 8 years ago |
| I just found this guy today. I'm no expert. He had a strong cult following. I like his work and this song. I think he's being sarcastic when he says you are never alone. He's talking about us lucky folks who can afford the ordinary miracles of medicine that get so many out of trouble. The people he probably envied. He died because he couldn't get insurance because of his condition, which was partial paralysis and complications. He probably felt very alone. He had lots of friends and fans but not enough money for his astronomical medical bills. | |
| Willie Nelson – I Never Cared for You Lyrics | 8 years ago |
|
He's telling her he loves her because she's the type of girl that believes all men are liars and no man would ever lover her. "Your heart has been forewarned all men will lie to you And your mind cannot conceive Now all depends on what I say to you And on your doubting me So I've prepared these statements far from true Pay heed and disbelieve" What he really means is that the sun is warm, the sky is blue and he's always loved her. |
