I thought the same way about the video... although I couldn't connect the lyrics to the video. But I would go even further with the animal heads representing kind of the character of the former holder... like i think darwin who plays the guitar has a lion head. The stolen heads could be a metaphor for the souls, which are taken by the hawk offering him a grand prize, so the Woman then would be the devil tricking all sides and leaving them for dead. |

Like was said before, it's definitely "break my toes", also I would suggest to be "shame is always paved in life" but after listening more closely I think its more like the line posted here, which is kind of sad because for me my line fitted better :D
For me this song always talk about growing up, making wrong decisions (shame, bliss) and about just lying in your western bed, unsecure what to do in the future (waiting for the road ahead). From time to time some clues and double dreams seems to guide in the right direction (dressed in white) but in the end the just prevent you from getting on (break my toes). So sometimes you just have to walk a long distance to get your head clear. |

From the style it reminds me a pit of "peter and the wolf", I really like the use of the oboe ( i guess it is one) which you see very sparley used in modern music. The song really makes the images come to my mind that are described in the song, making it some kind of fairy tale. |

That song realy fits for so many situations and ist deeply emotional, you can feel the resignation in the lyrics and his voice. For me this song will always be related to my unfortunate love, which i cared for many years, finally taking heart and being rejected... "I don't want to hate, but thats all you left with" and the first verse really get to me everytime. Maybe the best of his song besides "Feel", multilayerd and stuff! |

for me this is a reference to the daily grind, everyday one has to get up, doing things your not fond of, but the beat of the drum (society, discipline) keeps you on the track. So you bury high hopes and dreams for the sake of keeping up. |

duh, this sooo much about being high... everytime I hear this while I smoked something I totally agree with these metaphors used and the lyrics. "This fake fire place, won't warm my face nor soul, but still I am floating"
