Great Song. I feel it's about a breakup and both people trying to move on but they still have feelings for one another. He wants to try it and see where it goes but she isn't sure. "You said you've been trying to hold on For oh so long I've been thinking that you might like to tag along And you came off so smooth with all your character flaws And I'm thinking about you and every night I call " The first two lines are about trying to get her to give the relationship a chance to succeed. The second two lines in the passage is about loving someone so much that even their tiny flaws make them more perfect for you because they are real. the Line "And you've been trying to pick me up like a ghost from the past/But you found that it's hard with your blood stained hands/Yeah it's real hard to get a firm grip" I think references that she can't trust the guy enough because she feels responsible for what happened before. "Then your mind kicks in and screams let 'em go 'cause I'm torn asunder with no hope " This is about her trying to give the perfect guy an honest shot but thinking that she is going to mess it up because she is a shell of herself. She comes up with rationalizations about it being bad timing, or if it only happened earlier, etc. These are excuses to give her an out on why she shouldn't give him a chance though because she is afraid that she will mess up something perfect for herself. |
