It's about competition; probably over a chick. He's being himself, while others are copying and all along he's just "shooting the moon" hoping to not miss with all his action. Someone else interferes and he feels flustered that someone is trying just as he is to get what he wants. He'll hit home eventually, while everyone else is just copying and trying to prove him wrong, when in his mind he feels confident enough to pull the trigger and hit dead on with his goals. Who knows. |

No, this song isn't just about domestic violence. Notice she says "Love was a sport", she's saying she played with his feelings until he was hurt by her "pushing him" until he finally hit her. She hurt and from that, she realized love is a powerful force. She was hurt emotionally as well as physically because she then realized what she had done, although she was hit from it to get her to wake up to not purposely play love as a game. She might have never had one good relationship until that one, so she thought of him as just another prick so she angered him and then realized he was serious when he cared for her. She might have been teasing him and then when was hit then said "then you hit me really hard"-also internally realizing he was serious, but she failed to see it. |
