Perfectly nailed it, River Wolf. Stevie Nicks is bad ass, this was my favorite song when I was 8, I wasn't sure what it was about, I just knew that I wanted to be just like her b/c she was such a bada** b**** :p |

This song is both sad and comforting at the same time. I think it is about breeding.
The water is warm
But it's sending me shivers
A baby is born
Crying out for attention
That there is very little comfort in this world. It's not a nice place anymore to bring new life into it. Everything is out of balance on this planet. It's not a fun, safe thing to do anymore, to raise a family.
Take only what you need from it
Talking about looking back on childhood and growing up, "fogged mirror" it's like, it hurts to exist. You can't remember being a child and feeling safe but then you're not supposed to anyway, you're supposed to grow up. It's no secret that children are comforting. The parents take from new life. It sucks to be born. It's as if we feed off of the young, and it's sick. And then parents split. I agree with the ones who said "him" is not him, it's "it" & that it is about a custody battle. The child is reaching for light, for God, for love, it comes from that place. Parents may see that but they forget, forget their responsibility to that new life, when they split everything becomes about them, all of a sudden they don't have the comfort of the nuclear family and then that child is lost and must find its own way. |

Kind of like Smashing Pumpkins' "Disarm" which everyone knew was about abortion, I knew right away this was... since it doesn't stray that far from their other themes-- doesn't differ that much from "Baptism," in tone, or much of their other songs for that matter. They question a lot the very meaning of existence, which I love. :-) I love their music, they are my favorite band. / . \ |
