I agree with almost everything you said here. The song is a message to the listener and Demry not to make his mistakes "the things he's seen". Drugs can cause such conflict in a relationship, due to the fact that one is always selfish in that perspective. He truly wants to save her, and their relationship by talking about the consequences of doing drugs. Thank you so much for such and eloquent explanation of the song, that is what it deserves.
