Fantastic song.
The lyrics describe what I'm going through right now. I want to know what's out there and need to take come risks to change my life. I need to "love the fall". |

The acoustic version is so moving. It made me cry when I first heard it. You can concentrate on the lyrics without worrying about anything else. It's absolutely beautiful, and so sad at the same time.

It reminds me of the happy times I spend with someone close to before they went to heaven. It helps spell out what the rest of us can't. |

This song always takes me back to the point in my life when I found out that someone very close to me has cancer. I'm always reminded of the exact moment when I found out. It broke my heart, and I still find it very heard to listen to the song without getting emotional.
It'll always be tinged with sadness for me, but it's such a beautifully written song. You can connect with it in so many ways and make it mean whatever you want. |

| R.E.M. – Everybody Hurts Lyrics

Here in Victoria, Australia this song was used in a recent Traffic Accident Commission television ad. It featured the family of a young driver who was killed earlier this year. It showed everyone from the boys parents to football coach, and how his death effected them all. I'm always reminded of that advertisment when I hear the song now.
The song is one of my favourites because of the message it sends - everybody hurts. It's simple, but one that needs to be remembered. It makes you stop and think that your actions effect more than just you - they can hurt everybody around you. |

I've read the meaning behind the song and I can definantly feel it in the lyrics.
It make me remember, that you can only help someone if they'll let you. |

It's the song that always reminds me of a dear friend who's now in heaven. I'm always reminded of those last precious moments we shared when I hear the song. It's sad but so beautiful at the same time. |

This song has a very specific meaning to me. It helped me overcome my fears and do something I didn't think I could. It made me remember that you can't count on tomorrow being there - it's not guranteed.
It's written so perfectly and gets the meaning across loud and clear. I have some of the lyrics up on my wall to remind me that you need to push past the barriers in life. |

One of the most amazing songs, it's one of my all time favourites.
It could mean many different things depending on when you listen to it.
For me it symbolises him looking back on a friendship/relationship with someone in which he couldn't help and he knows it didn't have to end that way. He was there to help and couldn't because he wasn't allowed. |

It's very open to personal interpretation, but I think it might be written as a stream of consciousness piece about the future.
The other way I see it is, he's lost someone close and it's forced him to question what the future holds. |

It's catchy, but it's more than that.
It's about celebrating who you are - being individual, different, a non-conformist - is comething you should be proud of. |
