The Hold Steady – A Slight Discomfort Lyrics 14 years ago
Sooooo goood. This songs pretty obviously about how trying to live a holy life is super tough in this day and age, and how they feel sorrow for those who can't find jesus like they have. It is clear that they feel that having their faith doesn't impede them having fun, and actually separates them from those guys who are "never funny and they're all so scared to die". But theyre not afriad. They have their faith.
And then at the end, he's talking about some trashy girl who gave up on jesus.

Kasabian – Cutt Off Lyrics 15 years ago
Hey, almonds makes sense, he's trying to poison the people, and cyanide, a deadly toxin, smells just like almonds.
I thought the third line was "Siad that all of these expirements, I was planning for the end".
I hear the chorus being "To the backbone, I saw the system, These men are convicts", which would make sense, if the singer is supposedly a man trying to uncover the plot and stop John.
I think John is John lilly.

I always thought it said "sucks that daddy's DONE", not gone. Same meaning, but I am just hearing a "d" sound in there somewhere.

LCD Soundsystem – Someone Great Lyrics 15 years ago
This song is so obviously about a person James Murphy knows dying, probably his father or brother. I don't know how anyone is getting this "break-up" stuff, or "still born", or whatever. Let's take a look.
-He wishes he could talk about it with the person, but there, thats the problem, because he's DEAD
-The death has caused him to put aside all of the little things that make him nervous, all the things that don't matter, and had put his life in perspective.
-"The way you were breathing"- referencing James seeing the person, being slightly concerned, but doing nothing about it. He regrets it later.
-"The voice on the other end"- the person telling him on the phone that his loved one has died.
-The lovely weather and coffee, he expects them to be bad, and he is frustrated that the world is still moving along while his world has shattered.
-"Smaller than my wife imagined"- He had talked the person up for years to his wife, and when she finally meets him, she is understandably surprised at his short stature, and surprised he was human, after all of James's stories about him.
-"When someone great is gone"- How doesn't that scream, 'someone that I greatly respect just died'?

Are you kidding me, all of this points directly to a death? Stop with all the funny business, it's clear what this song is about.
