| I think it's more about how this person cannot "add up" to his faith. the broken promise referring to something he himself broke, not his faith, and now he has to deal with the consequences, "my disease everlasting, let me bleed forever." He feels that if someone (his faith, a deity) doesn't rescue him soon, "Come and get me, lost in here I'm nothing" , "My soul to take, come get it", that he will be forever lost.
