| I think this song is about suicide. Mary is me. She felt like life is a series of protocol, manners, and responsibilities, hence, "hand over hand, the pages turned, the pages without sound". She got by life doing everything she 'had' to do to get by. She can go anywhere she wants and "not be found, without sound." Just a shadow in a crowded room. She felt like she left no lasting impression and didn't strive to do so, however the beauty is that this song exists, and this song moves us in some way or another. Mary obviously left an impression on Justin Pierre. So in some way she has made impression on everyone who knows this song. I hope she finds the light at the end of the tunnel that speaks to her, "everything will be alright in the end." I haven't yet, and right now I'm okay with that, but the reason I'm still here is because I've learned to find my own happiness in life. | |
