worldfest, swinging at two below par is a reference to golfing. Many top execs, or people who would like to be, have business meetings at the golf course. The character in this song has obviously been invited to many of these business meetings, as his golf score is very good. And I think you're sort of right on the second part, but I see it as someone who never intended to be successful, but suddenly finds he's got the hotels on Park Place and Boardwalk-- he's winning Monopoly-- but he's lost what had always mattered to him. |
