I'm not American either, it seems to me like it's summing up whats wrong with society. The first part focuses on 'being born with a silver spoon' and your chances in life being related to what your parents did and the social class your family is in. This is backed up by: ''They feast from the lines While we settle from crumbs'' This is obviously talking about how the rich eat from linen tablecloths with ordinary people settle for the scraps that are left. ''Is this a handout undeserved? Or a just reparation?'' This asks whether some of the state handouts are generous or to keep citizens quite. ''If theres a God you better pray That this sleeping giant never wakes'' This is an eerie foreshadowing of EU Riots, and the internet fueled Anon and Occupy protests. |

| Gallium31, your argument of Atheism as the ''scourge of society'' has some logical reasoning. It would be reasonable to suggest that God-fearing citizens would not become perveted or commit crime, however, certain religious teaching are inturpreted in different ways. For example Jihad or ''Holy War'' means to some extremists physical violence instead of metaphorical war. As I'm sure you're aware, such religious followers cannot possibly be considered 'good'. Christianity is not without fault either, take the Crusades or even the witchcraft trials. Athiests have contributed their part to the wars over time, as have religions - it would be immpossible to claim one is more responsible. But afterall ''Maybe it's too late for an intellectual debate'' as ignorance has already won. | |
