Evening Kitchen is hauntingly beautiful. A previous poster mentioned that the kitchen is where domestic life happens and where is everything is built. She leaves behind a life of extreme partnership. The reference to light indicates truth, where she leaves truth behind ... I guess she knew all along that something wasn't right, for her, in the relationship. But she is sad, and resists, probably until the end, to end it ... and he doesn't mention that they both called off plans and counted on each other. It should actully be these lyrics: What you'll* live with and what you'll do without He is saying, you know what you're capable of doing now ... what you can tolerate in love ... with your partner. So, maybe she indicated at some point that she was unsure of what she wanted. Well, leaving is a definite answer, isn't it! He is lost in the past: I've been. So maybe he forgot about her with past memories haunting his new ones. I say this because he talks about the wine, and how he uses it to forget, perhaps, the mistakes he made in the other past and this one too. And he is really only sorry that it took so long to figure out, for her. I think because he never had any intention of changing. |
