Its about people trying to manipulate other people and bringing others down to your level. The narrator is saying thats just not going to happen with him. This is really good, because so many people deal with others BS on a daily basis, and use their critisms as par for their own course. |

Yeah, its all about pollution. I heard that they were inspired by Kreator's "Toxic Trace" to write and create environmentally concerned tunes. Its good stuff though. I much prefer this style of technical deathrash to Athiest's work. Both are good, but Sadus still can write SONGS and be super technical. |

RollingStone559, why do you gotta bash on someone with their own point of view? This is about music, not political debate. In fact, why are people fighting on here at all? If you got something to say politically, MEET the person, and then war the fuck out your opposing viewpoints! Im just so sick of, mostly the damned fanclub liberals and right-to-be-racist conservatives, polluting this site with their fucking biased viewpoints! System is a great band, and though I don't always agree with their side, I respect their viewpoint! Now when I see political bullies going "Lets gang up on the devils advocate!", Im really pissed off! So, both you and MunsturrDude are respectable people because you care about your countries affairs, but for the love of god, do it somewhere else! |

You know, its wierd. I've met many people that are all like "Depeche Mode's songs are all about drugs!"...What??? This is the ONLY one that I think even resembles drugs! Maybe "Barrel of a gun" and "Clean" talk about recovering from drug abuse, but thats about it. People claim "I Feel You" is about drugs. No! Its about the physical feeling of sex! lol. I'm not that familiar with PTA and SOTU, so I can't fully vouch for them, but early on...I can't find too much involving drugs in Depeche's music...please politely correct me if I am wrong! |

| Depeche Mode – It's Called A Heart Lyrics
| 15 years ago

This song is such a masterpiece, I can't even begin to start...
When I listen to it, I see it as a negative song about relationship abuse by females in a partnership. I know its poppy as hell, but look at the title: Its called a Heart. That implies that whoever the narrator is speaking to, has NO IDEA what on earth this passion-center is! "You know how easy it is to tear it apart". Obviously the girl is no stranger to hurting men when they show their feelings towards her. The narrator was honest and "spoke from his heart" and yet he got hurt by his lover. Such a powerful and completely relatable tune.
Maybe this is just my interpretation with my experiences as a bias, but I really found solace from the words to this song. If I ever met Martin Gore, I'd tell him how happy I am that he wrote a song that I can so greatly relate to. I absolutely adore womankind, but many do have the ability to hurt us men emotionally. = [
(This can just as easily happen in reverse. Men can also hurt women emotionally, I just found it the way I did because it was written by a male with a male singing) |

| Depeche Mode – Love, in Itself Lyrics

Wow, this is such a personal, relatable thing for us guys out there. I really felt that the first two DM albums sent the wrong message about DM's sexuality in general. Because Vince Clark wrote what I believe to be excellent, but nonetheless homoerotic songs, the three guys+ Alan Wilder were like "We're all straight men in our early 20's. Lets act it" after Clarke left lol. I think CTA was a mature album where all the songs except the very first one dealt with political world issues. This is the very first song. I think this may be a somewhat pessimistic jab at the expected relationship bliss when youre in love. I think Gore's saying that you can still be in love with someone, and they can screw you over to bits. Its what hes learned from his late teens until his early 20's about the mythical magic being in love. |

When I think of the intro lyrics, I think of a cute girl unaware a guy is approaching her. Thus shes the "sitting target", "anticipating nothing". But this is just my interpretation. I havent the slightest clue what the real meaning is lol. |

This song is tongue-in-cheek for the what we romance rockers call the "Religion of Love" lol. Its supposed to be sexy but also kind of funny. He says "Im a missionary"...really, what else does "missionary" mean? lol. Yes, its a sex position! Sex is a sacred act, and Dave Gahan and Martin Gore are devout followers of the "faith" so to speak. lol. |

Wow, I can't tell if this is about Pornography, Newscasters, Pop Stars, Candidate Speeches, or what! I mean, it says "Down with your pants" so I think its sexual, but then it says "Your telling lies" and "Shame on our constitution" so I think its Political...
I just don't know! I hope someone else can figure it out! |

The lyrics appear to make out the supreme monotheistic being (God, Allah, whothefuckever) as being an overseer, or "Collector of human souls" for humans who die in his name. I really like how Destruction attacks malicious religious fanatiscm in general, and not just the Christian God or Islamic God. I think Exodus was right on the money in their lyrical attempts to tear down holy wars, but they came across as misinformed. I think Destruction knows whats really going down because they LIVE closer to all the wars and bullshit.

This is a thrash anthem, for godsakes! Wheres all the commentary? Oh, you have to comment on Justin Bieber's bullshit? Go right ahead! ...Assholes! lol.
This is about an insanity-crazed meat butcher that intends to kill a numerous amount of people with a steel butcher's knife. The song further describes a lonely woman who expects her long-lost lover in her bedroom doorway, only to find the Mad Butcher there ready to strike! Being a man of perverse sexual needs, he rapes her before he hacks her up for meat. The End!
You can tell the guys from Destruction didn't have great english skills at this time. |

I'm not entirely sure what the big picture is, but in my view this songs about politicians and religious fanatics being praised, when it seems the world is getting no better.
It also seems to be a stab at the current wave of American political movements. |

Wow, I mean, I've been in lust for a girl before, but this is off the charts! Haha.
Great song by a great band. Martin Gore is a master, and of a dying breed of shy gentlemen that you just don't see around any more. This song is special because it puts the carnal act of sexual lust out in the open, and then proves this is a very normal very human desire. I like how he IS serious about it. Everyone in rock/pop has to make everything about sex oh so taboo, when in fact its a completely natural thing. I think too often men don't know how to handle bursts of sex drive. Martin L. Gore is great because he won't beat around the bush, but he will be tender about it. |

Wow, I know alot of folks can't stand freedom and beg to be swept up under a tyrannical government control, but I wouldnt expect Destruction to cover ANYTHING that puts down a civil country like USA. They seem to be more libertarian in thought (I know they're german and dont have the libertarian party. lol.) so this surprises me. I hope they just like the tune, as I do with Dying Fetus's "We are your Enemy". Love the song, lyrical content is not all aligned with my belief. lol.
Good song though. Hardcore punk started thrash, so its a return to roots. |

| Destruction – Bestial Invasion Lyrics

Well, I don't really feel that this song has any real solid meaning or pertains to a certain event other than in the songwriters mind. It appears to be an early morning invasion of satan's army or even a judgement day with an Luciferian armada instead of the standard christian returning tale.
You have to realize that Schmier and crew were just teens when they wrote their early material, so it's incredibly possible they were trying to just project an image rather than write big meaningful songs. It was not until 1986 that Destruction started writing social and political-influenced tunes, and I believe they were all about 20 then. They were young german men, angry and loved Venom; this is the result! lol. |

I think this song is just telling the truth about Religion starting all the wars of the world, and causing so many unnesesary human deaths.
That is my life motto for Religious belief and their fucking fanclub: "Fuck them, Believe in yourself. The reality is God is just a lie!" So perfect, so true... |
