I just heard this song for the first time today, its my first exposure to Laura Marling...I love her. I am throwing out some things that crossed my mind reading the lyrics...I'm not saying that it is what the lyrics are actually referring too...it is just was passed through my mind while reading & listening. The Devil's spoke...my first mental visual was of a bicycle spoke when something gets caught it slams the pavement...then I was thinking something that would snare someone and they were trying to cast it away. Then it was brought to my attention that it could be referring to the penis. "But the love of your life lives but lies no more and where she lay a flower grows." Infant death...I am surely off course, but that is what passed through my mind. Just throwing it out there, taking the risk. What ever this song is about, I was drawn to it and loved it instantly. |
