I know the thought is instantaneous that the killer is male, but has it crossed anyone's minds that she is being murdered by another woman? I know that serial killers usually turn out to be guys, but women are just as capable. It may explain the jealousy lines and also brings another meaning to "Get them off and they'll let you go", possibly meaning that the murderer sleeps with a member of the police in order to keep out of jail. Of course~, this is just another reading and any of these theories could be accurate; songs are much like poems in how it's all about how you personally read them. |

Personally, the song is in accordance to how I sometimes feel; it's about wanting to be successful and be as knowledgeable or talented as those around you, but not wanting to do the work necessary for it. The most evident lines for me are these: "I see the people working and see it working for them, And so I want to join in, but then I find it hurts me." "I want to be a Lawyer, I want to be a scholar, But I really can't be bothered, ooh just Gimme it quick, gimme it, gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme." The 'King' parts are about doing the work and getting it all done so there's that feeling of accomplishment and wanting to relax/be rewarded, only to find there's more to do and it feels never-ending. |
