It wasn't the only one available, but it certainly was the most popular. You could get other beers. Maccabi being another brewed by the same company. But, yes, should be Goldstar - 1 word.

Duran Duran – Ordinary World Lyrics 15 years ago
Simon talked about this during a concert. This is about death. In the last tour I saw them do, he dedicated it to the death of Andy's father. It's not a breakup, it's about having to rejoin the "Ordinary World" after mourning and needing to live on in this world without the loved one a part of this world.

To go even deeper, it touches on allusions to Jewish perspectives on dead and levels of existence. (Simon has this thing to throw in Jewish lore and symbols. Not sure what the deal is there, but... ) Instead of heaven, there is this world, the mundane, or "ordinary" world, and then there is the "Other" world, where the dead move onto.

Duran Duran – New Moon on Monday Lyrics 15 years ago
I think the lack of response isn't due to lack of D2 fans, but because the music & videos were always so cool that we didn't really care what the lyrics meant. Now, as adults, we're paying closer attention to the "text" to realize that Simon, as much as I love him, was a bit of a nut. ;)

Seriously, sometimes they are just such random streams of consciousness (I recall Simon using that exact phrase during an interview) that they make about as much sense as dreams with some day residue mixed in.

I agree, especially when you watch the EP Video:

It's still bizarre. Classic Simon.
