| For some reason, this song sounds like it's about picking girls up at a club. "Painted faces congregate in the mating seasons". It sounds like a club. Painted faces would be girls with make up and guys with spray tans.. or something. Mating season is friday or saturday night, whenever people go home with others. "They go alone to second homes with no rush to leave them" It's a one night stand, and they leave in the morning. Fountain and Scimitar shaped lights are probably fallic imagery, meaning dick references. Anyway, all the nights events seem to make you feel good about yourself and you're having fun.. Then "cuts you down to size" is you realize the day after that there's no emotional connection in the hook up and it was just a hook up. People and furniture seem important.
