this is one of my favorite rocky songs. anyway, i think this song is about someone who is extremely depressed. he's in a relationship & thought he was doing better, but then started to feel it again, & bad. he's self medicating by overdosing on his own medicine (might be alcohol) trying to numb himself & keep himself sane for her. & he is trying to be distracted by her & get hope from her but its not really working.. then it seems like at the end; they were so busy focusing on the future that they didn't appreciate the time that they spent. |

for me, i think this songs about someone who is disconnected from the outside world. they live in their head a lot.. and if they do that, they dont have to deal with the real world.they might smile a lot, but everyone can see right through it. there's a really close friendship here & maybe they had their partying days but that person is stuck in using alcohol to cope with issues or feel some kind of satisfaction (its not working). it also seems like that's his or her only friend.. but that person is losing them too. its kinda like he's saying "you can keep pretending to be happy, but i don't know if you'll be okay." & that sucks. |
