I understand that this song was written about Sharon, but for me I’ve always interpreted it about the death of a mother. His mother wasn’t dead at the time No More Tears was released, but for me the lyrics have always made more sense when viewed like that. Especially as Ozzy had a turbulent relationship with his mother, “Times gone by seems to be You could have been a better friend to me” “you made me cry, you told me lies, but I can’t stand to say goodbye” I always have this picture of Ozzy leaving America to come back to dreary England to bury his mother “I don’t care about the sunshine yeah, cause mama, mama I’m coming home” But despite it all that’s still his mother, the woman who gave birth to him and death changes people, “Times have changed and times are strange, here I come but I ain’t the same” |

| Cat Stevens' music is really starting to change my life. Of course I'd heard his music growing up, but I only started really listening to his albums recently. His lyrics are unlike any that have ever resonated with me before. I feel like they are pushing me in a more positive direction, he doesn't preach, he just sings from the heart and I feel like his experiences mirror the existential crisis we all go through in our lives. We may feel like it's resolved, that we've come to some deeper understanding, I thought I had it all figured out. If you walk further out into the water though, you'll feel the ground leave your feet and you will discover there's depths which remain undiscovered. I'm young, but I've been so confused for a long time, 'bleeding half my soul in bad company', basically making all the wrong choices. I feel that finally I'm gaining some perspective on the choices I've made, and I'm now sure I'll never overcome my demons if I don't leave behind all of the drugs, all of the parties, all of the negativity that's dragging me down. I need to leave it all behind, give it all up totally, if I really want to grow as a person and be truly happy. | |

The 'they dug me my very own garden' part sounds a lot like they were about to sing 'they dug me my very own grave', meaning that these people had played an important role in his downfall and had left him to deal with it. The replacement with garden makes it sound like this person is trying to ignore the wrongdoings of his so called 'friends' and is idealizing the situation, because it seems like the best he's going to get. |

'Shoot a gun to kill my lunch', not an animal but 'lunch' not caring about lesser creatures. It also sounds like people just living for the weekend. ''Instant battle plans written on the sidewalk Mental mystics in a twisted metal car'' Planning your night out, 'mental mystics' sounds like stereotypical hippies :) Also this song sort of talks about using religion 'christ', to keep everyone calm. It sort of makes me think of people who don't do very much in the way of change, or only work jobs that really do no difference overall, and they are left with a crisis of who they are and if they matter, ''I'm a curse and I'm a sound, When I open up my mouth, There's a reason I don't win, I don't know how to begin'' |

'Send baby Jesus To radiate his lie' Right, that removes any possibility *hah!* that this song could be 'glorifying' christian beliefs, or any sort of religion. As most people have already said, Radiohead's members are not religious. It's like in Paranoid Android, Thom sings about all of the horrors ''The dust and the screaming'' ''The panic, the vomit'' and then goes on to say ''God loves his children'', If the inherent caustic reaction between the phrases weren't enough he sings it in such a sweet sarcastic voice (You can just picture him with a huge grin on his face.) Maybe it's just me but I feel that this is a parody of the sort of southern country music which often is very religious? Still, it's a excellent song! (Then again, you don't expect, or ever receive anything less than excellence from RH <3) |

But it isn't, but it isn't'' = Blind spot - Part of eye with no photoreceptor cells, Since there are no cells to detect light on the optic disc, a part of the field of vision is not perceived Not being able to see part of the issue, this oversight caused the problem, oversight, refusing to see Referenace back to 'Bitumen' (roads) - A blind spot in a vehicle is an area around the vehicle that cannot be directly observed by the driver while at the controls, under existing circumstances The circumstances of the situation caused this man to overlook the issue which caused the problem. Overall - Thom feels very strongly about issues like Global Warming, he said that 'The Eraser' was influenced by this issue, this song could be a reference towards world leaders ignoring the issue and that you cannot stop the effects of Global Warming if it is too late, the plant growing 'crooked' when it could have grown straight if given support. Of course this could be a reference to any issue in which ignorance by the people supposed to deal with it is present. |

I think this is about a person who has grown up and is thinking about there childhood Time it was and what a time it was it was, A time of innocence a time of confidences. = ''Time it was and what a time it was it was'' growing up must have been good for the person, the best days of your life kind of thing. Children are supposed to be innocent right? i think this ties in with 'confidences' thing. Children telling secrets to each other also i kind of wonder if they were innocent what would they have to confide?. Long ago it must be, I have a photograph Preserve your memories, they're all that's left you = The persons thinking about how long it has been since they were a child. Im guessing they have a photograph of there friend and either something happened to there friend, there friend changed a lot or there friend died ''they're all that's left you'' i think the latter is more likely :D |
