Actually, Alan mentioned in an interview that this song was about a summer he had back home in 2003that was completely incredible and unexplainably epic. Thats where "Lost in time, I'd give this all up for a chance to find my way back to that summer in 2003 when I felt alive" came from. When you look at the song with this new perspective, it makes total sense.

I was at a concert and the Wonder Years opened, and the singer said that this songs was about why he hated college. After knowing that, if you look back at the lyrics, they make complete sense and they completely explain what anyone would feel not only in college, but in any grade. |
