* Something strange, not something strong Anyway, I love this song because it so perfectly captures the war for life that goes on in the deeply depressed. |

Actual lyrics: We are lost, consumed by selfish desire. Abandon the gift bestowed us. The gift of love. [Chorus I:] But there is beauty, There is life. Hold fast for this could be, The end of eternity. We are blind (we are blind), our future's crushed and forgotten. Destroyed by greed (destroyed by greed). [Chorus II:] But there is beauty (there is beauty), There is love (there is love). Hold fast for this could be, The end of eternity. I will swallow your soul. Break you into submission. I will be waiting in the shadows. Until your last breath. Don't forsake all of us. Don't turn away from us. Your will is stronger than... than this. Something strong grabs hold of your breathless soul. Under shadows I drift into your weakened breath. Like grains of sand, hope slowly slips from your weary grasp. And in my sweet seduction I will break your will... your will. [Chorus II] But there is beauty (there is beauty), There is love (there is love). Hold fast, for this could be, The end of eternity. I will swallow your soul. Break you into submission. I will be waiting. I will be waiting. I will be waiting... |

@ meepspork - No, clearly the song is based off of the Castlevania version of Dracula, who was a medieval knight who's wife died of a sudden illness while he was crusading for God against the evil monsters that roamed the countryside... see, I can assert that whatever experience I have of Dracula is the correct interpretation too. Who cares which exact version of novel of Dracula Iced Earth based the song off of? Clearly it's one where he served God in some capacity and lost his wife... now enjoy the awesome guitar riffs. :) |

This appears to depict an authority figure talking to a dependent. You might picture it as a deity talking to a rebellious follower or a parent talking to a rebellious child depending on your motivations, but it seems both interpretations are probably valid. Gotta love how some songs are set up in a way to make the religious and non-religious views appear valid and let the masses argue amongst themselves, all the while raking in the combined profits. :) |
