I take all what you guys said about the Galaxie been what he is, and not the Cadillac, and I add my interpretation: To me it's about an ex lover... he keeps on going there, standing in that state... he wants to see her, and tell her something, but he's really never sure if she will take it the right way. In addition, she's dating another man, a guy who drives a Cadillac. "But the Cadillac that's sittin' in the back, it isn't me, oh no no, no it isnt' me..." "no, it isn't me in my galaxie". He wishes he could be with his Galaxie in that place, but instead there's that Cadillac from some other guy. Maybe the meaning I found to it is influenced by my own personal experiences, but that's how lyrics work in many cases, you can make them mean whatever you want. I liked the "lifestyle" interpretation from ALICEINNIRVANA. Great tune, I've grown to love this band. |

| shit... you're right, it was so simple!!! But obviously there's a big metaphore over there. | |

| and that "I killed the manchild" thing, I get it as losing innocence... the same innocence we have when we're kids | |

Hey guys, I was just reading all your comments and suddenly this idea came into my mind: Could it possibly be about religion? Maybe the one saying all this stuff feels like the church is opressing him, with him still believing in god maybe but not agreeing with most of that catholic shit (no offense intended here :P). Did anyone get what I mean? Read the lyrics thinking about this... "Don't wanna let me be a man" - he want's to be human, natural, and many of the things that are believed to be sins are against this idea "Don't wanna lead me to your home" - maybe he feels that because of this he "won't get to heaven"? The rest mostly I figure it out as what he has done through his life, maybe not the best stuff a man can do but in the end it's part of humanity. And the "dressed like a clown, don't know my name..." part I get it as if he were feeling ridiculous for some reason (yeah, I know that was obvious :P) yeeeah.... yeeeeeeeeah!.............. YYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! |
