House of Heroes – Serial Sleepers Lyrics 15 years ago
Jared, could you give me some hints as to the whereabouts of other hidden lyrics in your recorded songs? I could barely hear that "be still" part, but sure enough, it was there. It was like a lyrical easter egg :). I would like to know of more. Any help will be appreciated.

I never really understood this song until I started reading some of these posts, but jeez, it's amazing how much silence is deadly. I would encourage anyone who's reading this to see this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BE_qq3CvFc. Let's not be a generation of "serial sleepers" who literally and spiritually kill others with the words we DON'T say, but let's speak life and hope into people. What happened to boldness in our society? Thank you House of Heroes for taking a courageous step by making these lyrics. They are life saving

House of Heroes – Constant Lyrics 15 years ago
Constant. This word simply says it all. The song is a love letter, a poem if you will, to God.

"I worked for so long
With the weakest of hands on the coldest of shores
The wind and the rain
Fill me with doubt but you've never been wrong before

I pray for the sun
Some guidance, some truth, some glimpse of the things to come
With only your song
Your love made me strong when all hope was gone"

Times are tough. It's hard to stay in the game when your hands and your strength are not enough to face the cold shores of life. The battering winds of lies, deceipt, and ridicule batter you down and tear away hope. What do you want when this happens? You want it to stop. You want things to get better. You want that storm to cease and the sun to pierce through. And what does it do? Why, it increases in intensity!

"I pray for relief
But relief doesn't come, just the will to press on
With only your song
Your love makes me strong when all hope is gone"

God's Will is absolutely, 100% perfect. There is no flaw to is plan, because He himself is perfect. That being said, we don't always like what He does for us. He allows storms to come our way. Trials and tribulation are part of life. They come free of charge, but at a cost to us. When all we want is relief, sometimes, all we get is more torment. But there is a promise of God's that defeats this death, this evil. It is hope. It is peace. It is "the will to press on". It is love. No matter what happens, Christ is the constant. He really never gives up, even though it feels like it sometimes. Most of the time. He allows for a deeper revelation to stir in our hearts that gives defeat a lethal blow. The chorus says it well:

"All through the night I was falling
Straining to hear your voice calling
You never gave up, never gave in, never quite gave up on me
You are my constant"

Fantastic song and fantastic meaning. House of Heroes does it again :)

House of Heroes – Burn Me Down Lyrics 15 years ago
Yes! First comment!

This is a fabulous ending to a perfectly timed album (provided you received the original version. Not the one from Amazon or iTunes). It's basically a proclamation of the fire of Christ and the revelation of Truth. This idea is not something complex or puzzling in nature. Unfortunately, in our modern world, we fail to see the simplicity of what is being sung. Eternity, revelation, and the Kingdom are all at hand and are all available through the fire of Christ and his Spirit. Those mysterious wonders are made clear. Those ungraspable concepts are within reach. Those deep-centered doubts are made clean through childlike faith. Let the fire burn inside and do what the last lyrics say: let it out!!

The Fray – Hundred Lyrics 15 years ago
I like the part where he says

"'Cause we have spoken everything.
Everything short of I love
You right where you are."

I know the lyrics say "you" twice, but in the song, one can clearly hear him say "you" once. Is there any significance to that particular wording? This is an absolutely lovely song though.
