Ive heard alot about this song being her being a closet gay. I do think its just metaphor for her "secret love" fair enough shes singin about a him...I could be wrong but listen to her music and shes infact singin alot of being a lesbian and not feelin she can come out but she cant be any other way. |

I think its clear things were perfect and she/he never saw it coming but it ended and now that there gone they have kinda lost who they were before the relationship, cant find the things that made them happy. there life depends on that one person who makes them feel alive. |

I thought this song was him saying to his ex that "nobody really knows how hard its going to be nor do they understand your pain when its over!" theres so many obstacles in the way when your young, and it seems no matter how hard you fight sometimes it just isnt enough to keep hold of each other. Maybe more suited to first love, when you have no experiences in how it should be etc. sooo sad. but so is losing that first love i guess. great track |

Sad song. I think that he still loves her. I think hes acting like he wants to find someone else that it will be easy with, when real love is never easy, Its his first love. He loves her and he is trying to say goodbye. But I dont think he can. its like that song "im not inlove-10cc" He is inlove with her...he knows it would be so easy not to be, but he is and thats that. I agree with everyone though, this song can be interepretted in so many ways. sad song. :( |

Personally I think her songs are amazing, this album is my fave one shes ever done. I think shes grown alot, I think writing her own stuff makes it more personal, and much more easy for people to really feel what she felt when she wrote this. Shes clearly singing about all the beautiful things in the world and referring to her and her ex/partner/lover and saying that there love was just as pure as that. Dont ask me why the sky is blue thats not my business. I think the song is about the love she had with this person. |

I think the person regrets breaking up with there partner. they met at a time when they really needed each other, it was fate, they were meant to be, and now there gone there dead again. and that its not easy being in a relationship it takes work every single day, compromise between the two. plus communication, which they seemed to have lacked at times. they broke up but both regret ending it, not trying harder. because they cant move on with the way things are. I love this song. |

This song will be interpretted differently with each persons experiences, it can mean any of the above. I personally feel its about that first proper love. everythings new, neither have experience in how its meant to be or how to make it work and last, all they knew was they truly loved one another. and they didnt see it breaking for whatever strain was apon them, it makes me think.....Life is cruel, sometimes we can never understand why things happen or why we carry on to love people after its "over" I think he thought with time he would stop loving her, but the love grew and remained. perhaps in the future it would work out etc. having that soulmate i believe. where your love never dies for them, beautiful song. |

This is my opinion only. and who knows whether its true. I think its someone that had a bf/gf and they broke up with them cause they thought they was going to leave them, maybe he or she thought it was for the best at the time. But then later realised that they still very much loved there ex it deserved the risk and fight to make it work. and now they feel like nothing, there lives have become colourless and empty to what it was with there ex. Only now they miss the water, now its gone. There throwing in the towel contemplating how it became like this, asking if they were replaced or whether the ex is and did go through the same heart ache. They cant let them go, there bluffing saying there done and they dont care no more when infact they just cant let the ex go. This song is very much a lesson in itself. And I think alot of us think people will always stay. when in reality you have to hold on tightly to that which you love, because theres always someone there in the shadows ready to try and treat your partner/ex better. |

I love this song. My feelings on it. Two people were together, something happened between them for them to mutually break it off for the best for both of them. The guy regretted it and wanted her back for a long time she didnt recipitate, perhaps got a rebound and then realised that she still loved him, but shes so indecisive on what she has with the new person "the security etc" and the first love so to speak and the planned life with the ex. So sad, but I think its based on her indecision, and perhaps feeling like she loves both partners. |
