Deas Vail – Birds Lyrics 15 years ago
I think, when you listen to the song and read the lyrics, it's quite easy to imagine that this song is about the slight corruption of church officials and financial benefits. "Behind our saints, we hide our face" easily portrays this as people will use the churches teachings to force the congregation to feel obliged to be a financial supplier for the church. At the beginning of the song, the line "And we can't forget the beginning, when he set our broken wings" is referring that we need to remember that faith is more than just an institution that requires financial sustainability, but also a congregation that truly believes in what they are there for.
