i think there's an even more relevant subject here than reincarnation--kyo alludes to spiritualism, sure, but not without also discussing the human nature. i believe that kyo is suggesting to humans that we expose ourselves--debunk our facades and live honestly--for the sake of the future, so that we break the cycle of lies that extends from generation to generation, essentially destroying us (i think he believes that beneath our facades, we suffer; we sacrifice ourselves to integrate with society, and in abandoning ourselves, we unknowingly engage in destructive behavior). societal facade is a common motif in his work, so it's not too far-fetched. the tone is different here though--it's not so much that there's a note of POSITIVITY as there is less negativity, less of a misanthropic tone than before. which is also not too far-fetched considering kyo's constant self-reinvention.
basically, expose yourself for who you are, your lewd self. no longer sacrifice yourself for the sake of assimilation lest the cycle of destruction continue. |
