In a poetic fashion, Steele could have been writing that when a woman comes to her time of the month, he finds it erotic and enticing to go down on her. It's a play on the gothic appeal in music and lyrics. Almost a satire and a joke, but he plays the part well. I do agree that this song is creepy, erotic, seductive and gross--all at once. |

This song could be viewed in several ways: 1) A man has lost a dear friend who was so close they were considered like twins, but this friend moved on, possibly finding God and turning his back on the friend whom he views as someone who would not understand his new life. 2) A man loses a lover after they were near inseparable. He can't believe that she is happy with God or her new boyfriend just because her new life makes her feel so high and mighty ("are you strong when you're with him/the one who's placed you above us all") 3) Or it could be a sibling! NO one ever thought of that? A twin is usually someone related by blood. Maybe a sister (but could be a brother) who has a lover or possibly found God and the singer feels betrayed and alone now that someone he used to be so close to has pushed him away. These are the different meanings I could find, but to each his own. |

Me and my significant other have adopted this song for our love song after we listened to it and thought of it as such. There are many ways that one can interpret this song. "ONLY YOU AND ME FACE TO FACE COME AND LEAD ME TO ANOTHER PLACE" and "IT CALLS ME NEAR YOU SOME COSMIC WILL I WANT TO HOLD YOU THE LUST TO FEEL IT'S ALL THE SAME SO DULL, SO PLAIN I NEED THE SPARK, THE FLAME TO DRAG ME OUT OF MY INSANE, OF MY INSANE" my significant other and I have both been diagnosed with mental issues in our pasts and have clung to each other for the support. So we made this song our love song. |
