I think this song really defines Bob Dylan. "Sign on a window says Lonely" Refers to the way outsiders looking in may see things. The Mob sees someone who does not desire much outside contact as a "loner" The first Verse defines the way his ideal life may seem to onlookers "lonely" The second and third he makes his case against "Mainstreet life" -not his cup of tea. "looks like nothin but rain" The last verse defines the Ideal living situation. Cut off from the world with the people he loves the most. Doing the things he loves most. Beautiful song. Perpetually in my head. |
