If you read Lord Tennyson's poem "The Lady of Shalott" you will see that the song is about that. You see here holding the green book all through the video and it is even opened to "The Lady of Shalott" towards the end. It has nothing to do with suicide at all. Green as the little the ring on my little cold finger. I never felt the love of a man. Means she never had a chance to love a man, she was locked away with a curse on her to never leave the tower. When she did leave the tower she died from the curse. |
