Well after reading all thwe post on this page I've seen some pretty out there interpertations of this basicly stright forword song so if it helps I'll break it down for you. Here we go.... Its all the same only the names will change: Its about music and fans showing up at a consert, the bands and venues "names" will change but it will still be a consert with someone playing music Everyday it seems we're wastin away another place where the faces are so cold: Tired of the same old thing, doing a show in front of thousands of people you don't know I drive all night just to get back home: pretty self explanitory I'm a cowboy on a steel horse I ride: He feels alone on the tour bus( cowboys often traveled alone, and the steel horse here is refering to a tour bus I'm wanted dead or alive wanted dead or alive: Fans and perhaps even the record company want him for what he does not for who he is Sometimes I sleep, sometimes its not for days: its often hard to sleep after a rousing rock consert, doing it every day cause sleep deprivation The people I meet always go their seprate ways: This means the fans and consert goers, after the show they go home, he goes to the next show Sometimes you tell the day by the bottle that you drink: Refrence to the fact that the band drank while on the road..........Alot And times when you're alone all you do is think: Talking about time without and or away from his family Richie's KICK ASS solo, here I walk these streets, a loaded six string on my back: well live Jon now actualy says "guitar", so we all know he means he always has his guitar with him on tour, DUH I play it(he says "it" here, listen to the song, or read the original Slippery When Wet liner notes) for keeps, cause I might not make it back: he means he gives the fans at the show his all, for a great show, because he might not be playing there again I've been everywhere, (oh, yea)and still I'm standing tall: Bon Jovi has toured the world and were on top of the charts, yet he's still ready to do it all again I've seen a million faces, and I've rocked them all: Is the millions of fans at the shows and he indeed did rock us all ....later in the song...I've got the nite on my side: Most conserts are at nite, and his fans love so the nite keeps him going.... | I like this interpertation its different and makes you think, however in the documentry "When We Were Beautiful" Jon and Richie cleary state that the song was writen about touring and life on the road. | |

I'm wondering if anybody wants to comment on the song, maybe describe what it means to them, or something like that, after all I thought this was a song meaning website. If you want to descuss suicide or murder conspiercy theories I'm sure the're a few million sites you can goto. But please people, I loved Kurt and Nirvana too, thats why I still enjoy listening to and writing about their music and you all should too, leave the facts of his death where thay belong and lets talk about his/their music. |

I totaly agree with the gentleman form Ohio, please learn to spell if you must insult people. Or use spell check pretty much all computers have it on the basic toolbar. Besides this site is for song meanings and interpretation. Another thing, why would you call yourself a "grunger" and then use the screen name "classicrock4ever", that just doesn't make sence. |

Whoever you are, you, sir/ma'am are nutty. You are the soul reason why everybody thinks all conspriacy theorist are crazy. Your entire, passage is nothing but the incoherent ramblings of an EXTREEEEAMLLLY desturbed and insaine person. You need industrail strength therapy. Please, please get your self some help. P.S. In my line of work I have met and spoken to several of the people in which you have slanderized here, and though some are assholes, Mis Gwyneth Paltrow was, and is, one of the most genuinely sweet and nicest people I have ever had the pleasure of conversating with.
