Men at Work – Helpless Automaton Lyrics 15 years ago
Spamming the comments tonight but i think this song is about a guy whos in love and tries hard to block it out out, sowmwhat like a robot that cant / shouldn't feel emtions but no matter how hard he tries there still there... the verse

"I went to the man, I told him a robot is what I am,
But he just smiled, said I was a fractious child
"Distrusted not Rusted" That's why I feel so disgusted
But I know he's wrong, 'cause I haven't felt this way for very long"

is more of a self reflection in the sense that the "man" could be himself trying to convince himself that he had no feelings but instead comes back with he reply "yes, you have but you've tried so hard to bury them that are new / alien to you and they may disgust you but thats the way it is."

Either way i think its a song about someone trying to bury feelings of love and using the TV, computer or whatever else emotionless distraction is there to convince himself that he doesnt have feelings either but never quite succeeding

The Killers – Mr. Brightside Lyrics 15 years ago
Could be way of the mark here but could this song be about the cuckold / hotwife subculture? The first verse could be about a guy who wanted to see his mrs with another bloke and "it started with a kiss" but now he's is a chastity belt type thing / "I'm coming out of my cage" and the head screw is the situation excites him but scares him as his mrs is being unfaithful in front of his eyes - "Got to, got to be down
Because I want it all" I.E his call at first and he expected to be involved but now hes just a bystander of sorts and the mrs doesn't care about him so he might as well be "down" of flacid for want of a better description.

The rest of the song is him trying to deal with the situation and maybe in the end realising that he's not happy and can go back to a normal relationship, just not with the woman who's the subject of the song.

Roger Waters – Folded Flags Lyrics 15 years ago
Think quite a few line are wrong on the listed lyrics...

Better speak to the palace than to be today = better to speak to the powers that be today
And babe, how do these cheated stores get so far away = And babe, how do these jaded stars get so far away
Will they catch you at the bottom = will they catch what the other had to say?

Pretty sure the above makes more sense given the rest of the song / context? Either way a great song and given the subject matter of the movie this is from a rather fitting one at that.

Therapy? – Screamager Lyrics 15 years ago
"Year on the bottle" should refer to the coincidental encounter in my local the day after she got married... aged about 18 or 19 at the time - either way have spend a life time trying to forget her and not managed yet.

In retrospect, or 10 years later this song is about the teenage sweetheart who was so close yet so far away.. I was that somewhat awkward 15 year old with the NHS specs etc whilst she was the the privileged but very insecure love interest - in many ways and despite the differences we "worked" but ultimately it was never going to be.

In that respect i just passed my days away getting further wrapped up in the hows and whys of something that could never be, hence the line "I've got nothing to do but hang around and get screwed up on you".

Taking it further the line "Screw that, forget about that. I don't wanna know about anything like that" probably sums up the year on the bottle afterwards as i tried to forget what could have, should have but was never going to be.

A rather sad (or not?) but thats my take on things ;-)
