| Elliott Smith – Memory Lane Lyrics

You did! And I agree to a point. I disagree with forcing oneself not to listen to Elliott's music. It provides a beautiful counterpoint to our modern obsession with constant happiness.
It is ok to be down sometimes, and beautiful when you find something to identify with that feeling (this is why sad music is the most beautiful IMHO). Of course, listen to happy upbeat tunes when your mood changes :-) |

A-mazing tune, the most hardcore techno tune that never had a bassdrum. |

Totally agree about the child seeing the world for what it is. I think thats it though...
The song is the voice of a child, hyperactive and full of ideas, no more no less. I love it! |

I reckon its Insomnia ('Triangle walks' around the neighbourhood) and being tired from rearing kids, hence wanting to get away for some rest.
There is a general tone of depression at modern family life but the uplifting last verse is a realisation that life still has plenty to offer. |

I like the christmas/religion idea. From the perspective of a little kid getting excited in November, 7 weeks before christmas? Wanting to believe etc.? |

The "Who is the Alpha" line sounds like a German phrase to me... "Wo ist die Antwort" - translate "Where is the answer"... which would fit with the relationship breakup angle...
This song moves me. |
