The Tallest Man on Earth – A Lion's Heart Lyrics 15 years ago
I don't have much to say about this song's lyrics, but it's my favorite song on the album for its melody. That building, building melody into the chorus is so great.

I will say though that "Where he hides from the statues and the weather remarks" is a brilliant line. As one who repudiates talking about the weather as much as possible, I appreciate this line for its poignancy.

The Tallest Man on Earth – The Dreamer Lyrics 15 years ago
Can't believe no one's posted on this yet. Haha, I guess it's only been out a couple weeks, but this song is so incredible. Every release, I keep thinking TTMoE can't get any better, but he keeps proving me wrong.

To me the real strength of this song is the melody--it's so soaring when it comes to the chorus, gets me every time. But the lyrics are stalwart for sure. It seem to be mostly a hopeful future outlook. First two stanzas seem to present a confusing, over-stimulating world (nothing in this world's ever still/ever sleeps). Of course, maybe I just hear them that way because I just moved to LA...

But then the chorus simply and beautifully says that these difficulties are passing, and that the muse, whomever he/she may be, is "the light over me." He doesn't say "everything's gonna be alright," but the crown is tossed aside and there's "just enough dark to see." It's hopeful but not overly hopeful and stunningly beautiful.

The Tallest Man on Earth – The Wild Hunt Lyrics 15 years ago
I didn't know about the "Wild Hunt" myth. That makes the song that much cooler!

Looking at it now, it looks like he took the "Wild Hunt" myth and turned it into a coming-of-age story.

"I left a nervous little boy out on the trail today"--He's leaving an earthly existence that he sees as childish or less significant, and joining the fracas of the Wild Hunt in the clouds. It's a sort of spiritual awakening in nature.

"And I plan to be forgotten when I'm gone/ Yes I'll be leavin in the fall" Again, the old, little boy is "forgotten" and the new "heart" joins the Wild Hunt.

The Tallest Man on Earth – Burden of Tomorrow Lyrics 15 years ago
Yeah, I think it's "Savior's on the border..."

Everyone seems to be most interested in the second stanza, and I agree it's probably the best in the song: "Oh but rumor has it that I wasn't born/ I just walked in one frosty morn/ Into the vision of some vacant mind."

It sound like Greek Mythology to me. Wasn't Athena born out of Zeus' head?

That would probably support the theory of a divine narrator.
