@[petermum:8772] Great music is inclusive, he could be talking about any one of those things or all of them. They all distract us from the real love and it usually takes awhile for us to realize it. This song is that rejection of the "things he does late at night" "with people I hardly know or like" and then the realization of a need for real love to me. The bigger picture and the driving theme for this song for me is that transcendent thought above. The person looking at the situation and realizing it isn't the good stuff or the good life. Real love not infatuation. Real connection not just sex. Knowing love but having it (1 Cor 8:2, Matt 13:13, Mark 4:12). Knowledge of it makes it that much harder to obtain...we need "a different view". To me love in this life help us get through this life we don't understand. My love for my wife points to something greater. My love for my children increases that love, adds a new dimension to it. I lean towards an understanding about these things that are in this song as does everyone. Of course it has religious and philosophical themes. May you find what the writer of this song is looking for friend. I don't think this guy found it at the time he wrote this song "Of course i’ll be alright I just had a bad night" |

"they tied you up unwound, unwilling" Seems like this wouldn't be cheating, more like a rape or a naive youth unknownly doing something. I have never listened to the album which should be taken into consideration with any song, there is usually a theme. When listening to this I really took it literally as a math concept, a vector being a line that has a magnitude (slowly) and a direction (loud and proud in your direction). I feel like this is a path of relationship, be it personal or a corporate industry/gov one, that is comming together slowly and is not working as it should for the singer. He is showing his disaffection and getting over the baggage. The singer is obviously the lesser in this relationship, it isnt the other way around in my opinion. Regardless of what it really means, I can imagine the writer being bored off his ass writing this in a Physics class. |
