"Be an individual" More than a bit ironic, considering how "juggalos" mostly act/dress/live the same and try to emulate their idols. |

This song and "the great debate" are cringe-worthy, lyrically. Pretty much entirely turned me off to the band. It's basically the point-of-view of a very, very stupid parent about their non-stupid child, whom they smother with praise and embarrass to the point that the child starts intentionally failing just to make their parent lay off as soon as the song ends. "Autistic" used to actually mean something. Now anyone who's smarter than their parents and even the slightest bit anti-social is labeled as autistic, just so the parent can feel special and receive sympathy. |

Probably not the "correct" interpretation, but after seeing a video of this song set to scenes from "Trinity and Beyond", I see it as an allegory to the Cold War, from the perspective of a god/creator or ancestor. (not religious, but it fits) "as if you have a choice" = inevitability that humanity must pass through the atomic age eventually. Alternately, a parent seeing their child off into the "real world" wishing them the best, knowing that they can no longer be protected and have to make it on their own, now. Hoping that they've done enough to prepare. |

"When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse Out of the corner of my eye I turned to look but it was gone I cannot put my finger on it now The child is grown The dream is gone" imo the most heartbreaking lyrics ever, everyone knows this feeling at some point |

| People who try to establish a connection between this great song and religion make me sick. | |

I think it's about the melancholy, resigned feeling of knowing something bad or difficult is coming, and nothing you do will change that. There's nothing you can do to be prepared, and you just have to sit and wait. You have a bit of time to relax, but know you'll have to face it soon. It doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing that's to come; it could also be a happy, good thing that's coming to its end. Kind of also invokes feelings of ASMR (you know, that tingly-head feeling you get from hearing soft noises like typing or whispering, in a quiet setting) and not wanting it to end. ...if that makes any sense |

*Delivered from the blast *The last of a line of lasts *The pale princess of a palace cracked Seems to be mocking the concept of the archetypal divine/special by birth/"chosen one"/Mary-Sue savior character seen so often in fiction. IMO the song is about ascent from insanity to meta-awareness, with the subject realizing the truth of the universe, and that everyone going about their lives happily is insane... forsaking any simple human concepts such as right/wrong and hope after realizing that it's all pointless and makes no difference in the end. |
