John Mayer is a good guitarist...I'm not sure how you can argue that he's not. And Jack White kind of created his own sound, that's not as easy as it sounds. Go ahead and try to make a new sound and you'll find out it takes talent. And fuck you, at least both are real artists unlike a ton of mainstream artists. |

...i'm not sure you deserve anything, you'd have to be high to make a connection between that story and this song (as you were). and the only reason "Portugal" is in their name is because they needed to think of a country, and Portugal was the only country that sounded like it could be a person's name, so they chose it on that basis...nothing too deep. therefore, it's not even super likely that they'd be reading articles about Portugal. i mean, there are some similarities in the imagery he uses i suppose, but he's so vague, it could be about anything. i'm not saying this song has no meaning, but a lot of artists today write very imagerial and syntactic lyrics with somewhat of a theme and just let people find a meaning for them on their own. could be what he did...we may never know. |
