nn123654 hit the nail on the head with the meaning. As for them 'selling out...' No one who actually plays music would ever think that changing one's sound means they've sold out. Every artist seeks to grow, that's why they're artists. A change in the way the play their music =/= sell out. Selling out would be them abandoning the charging political lyrics they're known for and singing nothing but generic pop lyrics. How do songs like 'From Heads Unworthy,' 'The Strength to Go On,' 'Elective Amnesia,' and 'Make it Stop' engender thoughts of 'selling out' their lyrics? Dancing for the gods who only ask for more, indeed. |

@paulney To me, the chorus is sung with regards to hope for the future. A common theme throughout Christianity. Regardless of the intent of a songwriter, it is the interpretation by the listener which carries weight. Do you really think Judy Garland intended for 'Over the Rainbow' to be the anthem of the Gay subculture? (Technically Harburg and Arlen, but whatever.) In an almost terrifying revelation, Marcus may be struggling with God in a deeper manner than you can tell. If we exclude "I can't promise you that I will be the only one around | When your hope falls down" the song becomes a clear and painful cry, saying, "God, I can't promise you that I'll do everything the way you want; I'm not perfect." Then he runs from God, not being able to bear the burden of responsibility. He goes to a Godless land, forsaken. He questions if he was wrong for this. Because we can't take things in part, however, we have to include that line. This becomes a truly subjective matter. To me it sounds like he's saying, "When I fail, I'll fail in public. People will know me for what I am." What breaks the heart of God? Our sin. Therefore 'hope falling' could be the heart of God breaking for Marcus, or mankind in general. But I'm curious to hear your interpretation. Do you think it's just a love song? |

| What part of the song (i.e. timestamp)? I can hear the whole thing just fine. | |
| Inkubus Sukkubus – Kiss Of Hades Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| As previously mentioned, this song refers to Hades, god of the Greek underworld. He is the "loving god, annihilator." Not Yahweh. | |

This song, in line with several others (Overcome, Deceiver of Fools, etc..) is meant to sound pseudo-Christian. "That one day will come to light" is a direct quote from the Bible, "And one day, all sins will come to light." Her fears or 'sins' are consuming her (I feel that I am losing the struggle within... ) and she knows that one day all of her sins will be lain bare. Choose to take it however you like, of course. |
