Okkervil River – Black Lyrics 14 years ago
I agree with the majority of people with the father-molestation theory, I think it is actually pretty damn obvious with lines such as "brand new wife and second kid", "Wrapped up warm in daddy's coat" "Where's your mother?"
However, I think the PURPOSE of the song is something everyone can agree on; that it's about anguish at seeing someone you love get hurt.

Fall Out Boy – Of All the Gin Joints in All the World Lyrics 15 years ago
I genuinely feel as though this song is definitely about a positive relationship, but at the same time, one full of anxieties and fear.

"You only hold me up like this 'cause you don't know who I really am"
This is obviously the person feeling anxious that they're not good enough for the girl, and he's scared to let her know all about himself.

"Sometimes I just want to know what it's like to be you"
Perhaps he wants to know how it feels to be loved unconditionally, like he does her?

"We're making out inside crashed cars, we're sleeping through all the memories."
I think this isn't so much about the intimacies of their relationship, but how the whole world is messed up, but they don't care because they're in love and how big things are happening around them (the "memories") but it all seems so insignificant to their relationship.

"I used to waste my time dreaming of being alive (now I only waste it dreaming of you)"
Again, everything that was so prevelant to the guy has just been shoved back. It's like she's engulfed him but he doesn't care because maybe it's making him feel alive (She's fulfilled his dreams?)

"Turn off the lights, and turn off the shyness, 'cause all of our moves make up for the silence."
Very self-explanatory, sexually. But at a deeper level, they only feel comfortable around each other, like the moment they get intimate, all the fears and anxieties melt away and it becomes so natural to be together.

"I've got headaches and bad luck, but they couldn't touch you, no."
Now he's just saying "You know what? I'm messed up. I hurt and I ruin things, but you make it go away and nothing could ruin how I feel about you"

"I'm not trying."
Maybe he's saying it's effotless? He doesn't have to TRY to love her, he just does?

I think the title relates to the lyrics too. You know how some people drown their sorrows when they're down to feel better and get rid of it all? This is what she is for him. Instead, it's "of all the girls in all the world, you make it better."
Or maybe I'm being a hopeless romantic. :)

Los Campesinos! – Who Fell Asleep In Lyrics 15 years ago
See, although I really like the idea of the nun, I kind of get the feeling that it's the girl's parents. Maybe this girl is still young and really loves and is loved by her parents.
So when she's 'turned her back on the church' it's like, she's turning her back on everything they taught her about boys because she's really into our narrator, so much so that she would do all these things for him.
But the narrator knows that she's still very much a daddy's/mummy's girl so he's waiting for her to turn her back on him and realise that her parents were right.

Alternatively, I think it could be about the narrator not being ths girl's usual type. The "god" maybe being some other, potentially more attractive man, that the narrator feels inferior to. So the narrator is simply saying 'although she's with me, I know deep down that you'll always be the one she wanted'.
He feels that she 'woke up from all that' "that" being the type of lifestyle she led beforehand, whatever that may be. And she's writing about all the things she'd do for him, to reassure him that she loves him (though I can't decide if this is sincere or not.)

I'm under the impression that the sea burial could be in referrence to TSIAGPTTOTF, maybe this girl "woke up" from it all because it made her feel lousy and suicidal, and found solace in our narrator since he also thinks about dying a lot too, and understands what she's going through.

So many different interpretations, and all of them could be wrong...but I'd hate it if it was straightforward. (:

Los Campesinos! – I Just Sighed. I Just Sighed, Just So You Know Lyrics 15 years ago
I'm guessing the guys has gone around to the girls house to go and see the girl he loves, but she feels uncomfortable talking to him (I.E "Nervous and barefoot") and doesn't feel comfortable letting him in the house because her boyfriend is there.
"He; boyfriend, inside's a saint, becoming a martyr" could be in referrence to how the girls sees her boyfriend, as some kind of a saint? But since the narrator is "writhing" (metaphorically, obviously) in pain from the "daggers" in his chest (thoracic wall), he's glaring at the boyfriend as if he wants to kill him, hence the "becoming a martyr" part?
Alternatively, the martyr referrence could be how this girl has killed the narrator through heartbreak and will inevitably do the same to the boyfriend she is with at that moment.

That's what I love about LC! lyrics, they're so wide open for interpretation. (:
Beautiful song, I think everyone has found themselves in this kind of situation at some point.
