Skillet – Hero Lyrics 15 years ago
I am going to add something to MusiChick's post. if you are a Christian, you are not religious. religion means earning the right to go to heaven. that's not the truth. God'd Son Jesus died so that we wouldn't have to pay the price and try to earn our way into heaven. just saying.

he didn't mean any kind of insult... it's just a term everyone uses for everyone else.

honestly I just want to know. where did you get the idea that Skillet is advertising Christianity like it's a drug? I am not trying to cut you down or anything, I just really want to know where you got that.

you don't need to do drugs to know that God is most definitely better than them. do you really think that you have to be hooked on drugs to know that God is better? look around you, do you see all the problems that drug abuse causes. I don't need to have to do drugs to know that there has gotta be something a whole lot better than that

hate to mention it Belmagus2 but Skilletp86dh has a point. have you ever heard a song that does not have any metaphors or lines that mean something else in it? besides that, Skilletp86dh has an even better point. Jesus lives. I say lives and not lived because He rose again. and since He had a heartbeat before He died and rose again, you can most certainly put your faith in the fact that He will still have a heartbeat.

dude, your soul is searching for God and is crying out to Him. I hope and pray that your soul finds Who it is looking for.

I really like your view on this song. I agree with you on that part of the song. he needs God, thirsts after God, and can't get enough of Him. but the guy is being tempted away from God. he knows it's wrong. so he is crying out to the only One who can save him.

if this is what your opinion is, then please explain, otherwise, don't say that it is one thing and not the other. it makes your credibility drop when you say something without anything to back it up

Skillet – Savior Lyrics 15 years ago
I understand it as God talking to someone who has turned from Him and thinks that they have everything they need.

"what you got, what you want, what you need
gonna be your savior"

I think that part means God is saying, "Whatever you have, whatever you want, whatever you need. None of that stuff will help you. It's all gonna fail you. Your life will crash and break without Me. I will be your savior."

that's how I interpreted this song

this is how John Cooper explains it

"Well, deophobic's not actually a word. I just made that up. But again, you kind of look into it and think about it. I mean, I think when you think about deophobic means, you kind of put the ideas together and it kind of makes sense. But again, that's not really the point of what we're doing. Coming back to Jesus - honestly - how many people understood Him when He said "If you don't hate your father and mother you can't be called my disciple. You're not worthy"? I mean that's kind of my take on it. I just think that it's coming down to what we have decided that Christianity is supposed to be instead of what the Bible has decided."

Skillet – Whispers in the Dark Lyrics 15 years ago
the very first time I heard this song was on the internet and I saw the music video with it. It was AH-Maze-In! after that, I listened to that song whenever I went on the internet.

I agree with Wishingforyou and LIVELIKENOTOMRROW also. God is so great and loving. He wants whats best for us. however, we don't always choose what is best for us, and when we do that and have to suffer the consequences, we blame God, even though it is not His fault. I believe this song is about how God wants to restore us and raise us higher than we could ever reach by ourselves.

I am not saying i agree with one side or the other, just that DigitalPimpSlap is right. most Skillet songs do have double meanings

i was only stating that the line could be about Satan. I personally believe that the song is about God.

Skillet – Energy Lyrics 15 years ago
in all honesty, the line "you are what I crave, you set me free I want to be your slave" could very easily be about Satan. I mean have you seen some of the things that Satanists worship. I work at a grocery store and jsut the other day one of the people who are obviously into demonology and witchcraft came into the store and bought some groceries. The total bill was $6.66 and the guy was like "YES, H*** YEAH! THAT JUST MADE MY DAY!" and it was really sad that someone would be so wrapped up in evil that they worship that stuff.

Skillet – Energy Lyrics 15 years ago
I interpreted the word energy as in the energey and power of God that gives life and sustains every living thing. there is nothing like His power and magnificance, and He is everlasting.

I hope and I pray that you will come to know Christ the same way many others know Him. I don't want to get into an arguement with you, so that's all I will say.

I agree with ForeverRed. Although we may not agree with Masashin, that doesn't mean we have a "right" to attack him. he was just stating an opinion, just like the rest of us. It doesn't matter if Masashin is wrong in saying that God and Jesus don't exist because they do. we should still be able to forgive him and turn the other cheek, like ForeverRed says. anyways, thank you as well Hakiri for standing up for us, even if you don't completely agree with us. I pray you will come to know Christ as your Saviour like the rest of us.

I also agree with you ForeverRed, about modern Christian music becoming too much of a popularity contest of sorts. This is the reason I like Christian rap a lot more than any other type of Christian music. Christian rappers get on your case about sin, tell you about their lives and how messed up they were, then how they become Christians and God turns everything around. I am not saying I don't like Christian rock and other stuff. I am just saying that rappers tend to stick the truth to us in not so glossed over terms.
