I don't think it's a critique on Christianity's take on homosexuality, but I'm totally with you on the aspect of the song's success in storytelling... His emotions are so raw, it's beautiful! |

I think this song is simply about two people who are never quite done with one another. Every time they come together they become lovers again,something brings them back to each other. They've both moved on, but are still tied together, they can't let each other go. The song ends with no resolution, much like their relationship. |

I feel like your interpretation is good for personal application, but I think the point of the song is that more concerned with what we do with our lives as whole, not Christian/Non-Christian dating. Do we live with passion? Or are we simply living. |
