| Taylor Swift – Back to December Lyrics | 15 years ago |

I think this song is about Taylor Swift leaving her boyfriend to explore other options, and then realizing that she still wants to be with her ex. She wants to get back with him, but can understand why he wouldn't want too if he chose not too, because she's the one who left in the first place. I think the song is pretty much summed up in two lines. "It turns out freedom aint nothin' but missin' you, wishin' I'd realized what I had when you were mine" Freedom is what she wanted. Other options. But it turns out it wasn't worth it, because even though she has the freedom to explore other options, she spends her time missing her ex and wishing she was still back with him. The song is a storyline of their relationship and how she wishes she could go "Back to December" and decide to stay with him instead of leaving. "I'd go back in time and change it but I can't, so if the chain is on your door, I understand" This is the other line. This is her wishing she could go back to when she dumped her boyfriend and take it back but realizing she can't. She knows shes hurt him in the past when she dumped him so she understands if he has "chains on his door" meaning he doesn't want to take her back in fear of getting hurt again because he loved her so much and it went nowhere. Just my interpretation. |
