The miracle he is waiting for is his freedom, the freedom to have another woman - his hands are tied - see loves him but he can't give himself to her. She hangs around for so long and puts her heart out there, but he can't get away from his situation. It's a bad relationship - there aint no entertainment and the judgments are severe - and he is left with crumbs of a happy life he could have. Then he dreams about her and sees the hope of a life with her slipping away. It ends with a desperate plea to do something extreme and crazy that doesn't/can't happen and finally his acceptance of his situation, stranded, broken, uncomplaining. He bottles it up and gets on with life, the chance of love gone. Great song, it means a lot to me, says a lot to me. I'm still waiting for my miracle, but I've a feeling I'll look back with regret at a part of my life that wasn't lived. |

RawkindDJ. Couldn't have put it better. All I could add is that I tink this song is about being left behind. But you got it nailed. Stipe does unrequited love better than anyone. And his cry 4.18 in is enough to break your heart. |
