| Chasen – Drown Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I just heard this song for the first time and it made me think of my boyfriend and I. I found out that he lied to me and was torn about how to respond. I was angry and hurt but still afraid that he wasn't worth losing. The "sink or swim" seems like a crossroads to me, a point of making a difficult decision to stay or to be "alone, just me" again. There was a sense of identity - "you told me who I was" - and drowning within them was a good thing. But as you realize that you're fighting for something that is not really what's best for you, that you need someone to rescue you and you're "going against the stream", you understand that drowning isn't something wonderful and freeing, but something that's killing you. And even though you have fallen in love, it's not worth drowning for. I think this song is about making hard choices and doing what's right and what is best, even if it means giving up what you love the most. | |
