I don't know for certain what the song is about, but every time I listen to it, I get an idea for a book, or at least a short story, about a guy that has a relationship with a coworker at a government surveillance police sort of place, think A Scanner Darkly, and he uses his tools at work to spy on her after they break up, and he just reminisces over his times with the Dial-A-View. |

I always thought of it as he had a love-hate relationship with either creating or destroying housing projects, as they are made of drywall and stucco. Although drywall should be dry and stucco should be wet, which is what makes me think it's about destroying them. But I dunno. I'm certain some of it is just there to sound good, like a Bob Dylan song. |
