"Hold my head underwater, take a breath for the father" I think this just refers to the way people join the church in some certain beliefs "Learn to love lessons repeating" I think many people just adapt into their religion without questioning or criticizing it. If someone hears all those phrases from the bible day after day since his/her birth, it's rather sure that that person will start thinking the same way, learns to love those repeating 'lessons'. the Chronicles are so misleading. For me it means, that the bible is just a book full of tales. And some people live like these tales tell them to without questioning it. The rest of this song is still a mystery to me. Has anyone any interpretations of it? |

| i also think that there are some lyrics at the end, but they are too modified to hear what it says. sounds really creepy when listened very loud. | |

I admit, that this is he only song made by Cave I've ever heard. And that's because it features Kylie in it. But well, I love this song very much. As everyone has said previously, it's so misleading at first; you think that it's a cliché romantic song and bang, she's dead. And their voices fit really well together. Especially the line 'all beauty must die' always starts to haunt me. I have always thought, that he says it because he is bitter and jealous for all those beautiful things in this world. He is rotten inside himself and wants to destroy all the beautiful things that remind him of his own faults. |
