| Kashmir – Ruby Over Diamonds Lyrics | 15 years ago |

It's been analyzed pretty much already, but there are some details I'd like to point out - Now I want to make love to you NOW I WANT TO - this is what he want's to do now, and I think the NOW is veeery important. IF, which I do not, we interpret this song to be about a rape, then it suggests his powers to do what he wants to do. But if it is just about love, it's about what he can't get, and usually (especially seen with children) wants whatever they can't get, they set a target to themselves. You're the ruby over diamonds - is this he's sight of her, or maybe the way she treats herself? Is it both? You guys have put a lot of weight at the fact that rubies are more valuable than diamonds, which is important, don't get me wrong, but the fact that he doesn't say "ruby over stones" means, that what ever she is surrounded by is also special. IF we interpret it even more, she could be the popular girl, the girl who loves herself, and only wants to be surrounded by diamonds - and maybe the one, who tells the story, is a regular stone, unspecial. And he doesn't even dare to try. Try talking to her. (maybe in a less high school way) The last part I'm not so sure about, since it suggests that he never actually had a dialog with her, and I think they do have a past.. but that's already been interpreted. |

| Kashmir – In The Sand Lyrics | 15 years ago |

She's on the ocean - she's in the sand.. The ocean is wild, it's wet, water, and sand is the exact opposite.. She might be all over the place, with no home anymore.. I agree with HungLikeAJury, that the relationship meant more than she thought it would. But I also think, that the man telling the story - or, the man in the story - has an important part, obviously. He has a real hard time figuring her out, and when he's sliding gently of her hand, I don't think it's her choice - she has kept him 'on the hook' for way too long, and he's gives up. It is a TOUGH relationship to be part of, and maybe she is much stronger than he is. But even though she's strong, I also think she is very troubled. Like, a lot of very secure persons really are insecure, and she hides it well, except when she drinks - she gets herself lost. Gets herself. Like she is doing it on purpose, to get his attention, and as soon as he does, she disappears. She is very troubled. Hmm. Just a thought. |

| Kashmir – Lampshade Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Yeah... maybe it's about a pedophile.. interesting point of view. I've analyzed this song for hours during a project I lead during my school, and never has that been my conclusion... anyway, what I found in this AMAZING kashmir song: the singer/teller is the man described in the lyric. I do not think it's about pedophiles, I think it's about fame. Making love to you kids could, just as well as it could be about sex, be about the sort of 'forced love' there is between a parent and their child. There's many aspects of the song, that I don't connect with pedophilism (is that a word?) at all. Like when he kisses here lifted-up cheek - FAME! The affect fame has on a person, and how he can seem shallow and not deep, the lampshade itself being his outside. The light bulb is his real and amazing inside, that noone ever sees - except the one who tells the story, it's like he sees the light from inside, though it's not very powerful anymore. Making love to you kids, just to get back to that - this famous guy will never know, who's in it for the fame, and who isn't, but he knows that his kids must love him. He believes so, at least. And therefore he has a fence 'round his house, to keep them close to him. The're all he got. And the woman, whom's cheek he kisses, is not a kiss of love or even caring, it's a kiss of equality between two stars - two novas. But, my eyes are opened to a whole different angle now. Pedophile.. wow. ! |
