I think she may be either talking to a really good friend or a lover. I think she is talking about how we shouldn't take life so seriously, its only life after all! If you spend your entire life trying to figure everything out, you'll miss alot along the way and probably end up more confused about life than you were to begin with. There is more than one answer to 'life' questions. We should live our lives instead of worrying whether or not we're living the right way! |

This is one of my favourite songs. It has so much meaning,I always feel emotional after listening to it which is really something because not a lot of songs can do that. I think the song is to a certain extent about her relationship with Kurt and how sometimes she felt like she had to almost compete for his affections -"Yeah, they really want you, they really want you, but I do too"
She wanted the rock star lifestyle with the famous husband, but she also truely loved him and didnt want the fame to get in the way of their love "I want to be the girl with the most cake, I love him so much it just turns to hate" I also think that it was difficult for her with Kurts cocain problem and all and that line is also refering to the fact she loved him sooo much, but at the same time she hated him for doing it to himself, destroying his life, and part of hers. I dunno, that cud all be bullshit what Ive just said, but thats what it means to me

This is one of the most powerful of Holes songs! The Lyrics are brilliant and so much passion is poured into every line. I agree with MissKrisss on this one, its deffinatly about men, and all the power the THINK they have, think being the oprative word in this sentence. |
